Work experience at BBC Magazines Bristol is an excellent opportunity for anyone considering a career in magazine journalism to work with an editorial team and find out how magazines are put together. A number of BBC titles in Bristol accept students and graduates for two-week placements. Preference is given to applicants who have studied or are studying journalism or who have a proven interest in working in magazines, and you may be asked to submit an example of your writing. All placements are based in Bristol. Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine This relatively new magazine accompanies the BBC series and helps readers uncover their own family history. Preference is given to applicants who have a proven interest in history. Please submit a CV and a covering letter with an indication of when you are available to mattelton@bbcmagazines.com. BBC Wildlife Magazine This successful natural history title regularly takes on students with a proven interest in journalism and wildlife for two-week long, unpaid work placements. Please send your CV, covering letter and indication of availability to sethburgess@bbcmagazines.com but note that, due to the popularity of the scheme, there is a long waiting list.
Countryfile Magazine Countryfile magazine is a celebration of the British countryside – from exploring the landscape and investigating rural issues to discovering local crafts and regional food. Work experience candidates must have an interest in journalism and passion for the subject matter. Please send your CV and a covering letter including your availability to ferguscollins@bbcmagazines.com
Unfortunately we are only able to offer placements to over 18's.
Work experience placements are in high demand, especially during student holiday periods and we cannot respond to all requests. If you do not hear back within eight weeks of your application, you must assume that your application was unsuccessful
