Hat-trick for Gardens Illustrated at 'Gardening Oscars' 15 December 2009
|
| Gardens Illustrated has picked up three awards, including the highly coveted accolade of Gardening Publication of the Year, at the prestigious Garden Media Guild Awards 2009. |
This is the fourth time the title has won this award, the last time being in 2007. The judges commented: "This year Gardens Illustrated has really come into its own, producing consistently outstanding issues with some of the best photography, illustration and writing around. The visual and verbal mix produces an informative gardening publication that is inspirational, entertaining and surprising."
Gardens Illustrated triumphed in two further categories: Ambra Edwards won the Journalist of the Year award for her features published in Gardens Illustrated and Hortus; and Jurgen Becker picked up the award for Features Photographer of the Year for his piece 'Cold and Frosty Morning', published in Gardens Illustrated in December 2008.
Juliet Roberts, Editor of Gardens Illustrated, commented: "I'm absolutely thrilled with our awards. It's great to have our photographic and journalistic talent recognised as the best in the business, and being acknowledged as Garden Publication of the Year is the ultimate accolade."
Known in the business as the 'Gardening Oscars', the Garden Media Guild Awards were set up in 1991 and support and celebrate the highest standards of garden writing, illustration, publishing, broadcasting and new media.
