Richard Branson guest edits Focus 18 November 2009
|
| Sir Richard Branson has strapped himself in to the pilot's seat to guest edit a space tourism special issue of Focus. The December issue, on sale 19 November, sees the Virgin Galactic boss team up with the BBC's award-winning science and technology magazine to bring readers an unprecedented look behind the scenes of the emerging space tourism industry. |
The issue features an exclusive diary charting Branson's dream of creating the world's first commercial human space launch system. There are also interviews with the key players in the space race, a guide revealing how to be a space tourist and a look at the other companies aiming for the stars.
Also in this month's magazine is a guide for anyone who is still confused about climate change ahead of the UN's conference in Copenhagen, and the announcement of the winners of the inaugural Focus Best of British Awards, which celebrate the best inventions of 2009 and are judged by a panel of leading experts including James Dyson.
This issue also sees Focus' distinctive red masthead replaced with a silver foil.
Jheni Osman, Editor of Focus commented: "The Father of space tourism was a pleasure to work with - full of feature ideas and Focus-esque humour. It's the first time he's guest edited a magazine, giving readers an exclusive insight into his world."
