BBC Wildlife Magazine picks up PTC New Designer Award 16 November 2007

| BBC Wildlife Magazine’s Mishka Westell today won New Magazine Designer of the Year at the prestigious PTC New Journalist of the Year Awards 2007. |
Up against stiff competition from the likes of Zoo, Sugar, and BBC Magazine Bristol's very own Focus, Mishka was said to have displayed ‘outstanding imagination and style in maintaining the highest standard of design while fulfilling her title’s objectives.’
Mishka commented: “I was thrilled to have even been nominated for this award, so winning it is amazing. The magazine has seen a real design transformation over the past couple of years, and it’s fantastic to be recognised by the industry in this way.”
The PTC New Journalist of the Year Awards are now in their 24th year, and have a reputation for promoting and rewarding excellence as the most important occasion of the year for the brightest and best of the industry’s emerging talent.
Ian Taylor, Assistant Editor at Focus received praise with a Highly Commended award from the judges in the New Section Editor of the Year category.
Also short-listed were Jheni Osman, Features Editor at Focus for New Consumer Specialist Journalist of the Year, and Rachel Dickens, Designer at Focus for New Magazine Designer of the Year.
