Gardens Illustrated wins gardening Oscar 15 November 2007
|
| Gardens Illustrated today received one of the highest accolades in the gardening industry, winning Magazine of the Year at the prestigious Garden Writers’ Guild Awards 2007. |
The judges commented: “Gardens Illustrated is beautifully and thoughtfully illustrated, well written and well edited. The writing, by some of the best in their field, is intelligent and accessible. The layouts are clear and there is a wonderful variety of topics and treatments, with an added element of surprise. It was a joy to read.”
The magazine was also short listed for Journalist of the Year – Frank Ronan, who scooped the award in 2006; and received two nominations for Features Photographer of the Year – Jane Sebire for Where the wild things are and Nicola Browne for Urban prairie.
Juliet Roberts, Editor of Gardens Illustrated, commented: “The team has worked so hard over the past year to bring the most inspiring design, beautiful gardens and expert journalism to our readers, and it’s wonderful to be recognised by the industry in this way. Thank you to everyone who has been involved in making 2007 such a successful year for us.”
Set up in 1991, The Garden Writers’ Guild Awards 2007 support and celebrate the highest standards of garden writing, illustration, publishing and broadcasting.
