BBC Customer Publishing and Cineworld launch first-ever mainstream UK Bollywood magazine 15 August 2007
|
| BBC Customer Publishing and Cineworld have today launched Cineworld Unlimited Bollywood, the first-ever mainstream dedicated Bollywood magazine in the UK. |
The free 16pp A5 quarterly will have an initial circulation of 50,000 and will feature exclusive interviews, previews of upcoming films, reviews and competitions, plus all the latest gossip from the Bollywood industry. Cineworld Unlimited Bollywood will be available to cinema-goers at all 17 UK Cineworld cinemas that show Bollywood films, with issue one out on Wednesday 15 August.
Parent-title Unlimited, the highest circulation cinema magazine in the UK (524,600 ABC Jul-Dec 06), which is also published by BBC Customer Publishing, already reaches the Indian cinema audience with 1-3 pages per issue dedicated to Bollywood coverage. However, with the rapid growth of Bollywood in recent years, the new title reflects the increasing importance of Bollywood as part of the current UK cinema mix.
Clare McCollum, Film Marketing Manager of Cineworld, says: “Indian cinema is the number one specialist cinema area in the UK, and as a leading cinema chain, we need to reflect key market trends. Cineworld Unlimited Bollywood aims to demystify the Bollywood experience for mainstream UK cinema-goers and provide all fans of Indian cinema with a valuable resource. With the strength of the Unlimited brand behind it, the title promises to be yet another invaluable communication tool for Cineworld and the Bollywood industry.”
Cineworld Unlimited Bollywood will be edited by Unlimited magazine’s Pat Reid and will feature contributions from top UK Bollywood journalists such as Poonam Joshi and Ashanti Omkar.
The first issue contains interviews with Bollywood megastars Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai, Bollywood insider Anupama Chopra and distinguished director Mira Nair. There’s also a ‘My Bollywood’ feature – this issue features young British fashion designer Lena Malik discussing her favourite Bollywood films and stars.
Julie Williams, Director of BBC Customer Publishing, says: “By combining Unlimited’s sharp contemporary style with the requisite element of specialist knowledge, Cineworld Unlimited Bollywood will stand out from existing international Bollywood titles, and provide UK Bollywood fans with an entertaining, informative and 21st century publication of their own.”
Issue one of Cineworld Unlimited Bollywood is available in participating cinemas from today, Wednesday 15 August 2007. The title is free to all cinema-goers.
